The Book of Esther

Composer David Homan and choreographer Ariel Grossman have collaborated on this contemporary all-female ballet that explores women’s empowerment through the Purim story. The two parts of the ballet—“Vashti’s Choice: the Allure of the Crown” and “Esther’s Dilemma: the Risk of Revealing”—mirror and refract each other; twists to the traditional plot add intrigue.
